How can Ellie be 7 and a half months? Seems impossible to me..it’s incredible how much these little people grow in such a short time!
At this moment in time Eloise is rolling around the floor and rooting through her brothers’ box of Lego, to see which bits are tastiest – it’s kept her quiet for ages! I think the bigger pieces probably feel very nice on her gums.. but I’m really going to have to watch her!
Her first tiny tooth popped through about three weeks ago and the other one a week later..and along with a viral infection, we had the worst week ever. Ellie’s normally such a happy baby, but boy did we know she was poorly! Even her spikey punk hairdo had flopped over!
We tried lots of teething remedies, from emptying teething granules a bit awkwardly into her mouth, to a rubbery toothbrush thing (she likes the ‘BrushBaby’), sticks of cold cucumber and teething medicine. You really do feel their pain when there’s not much that soothes them – funny how some babies don’t even notice teeth coming through.
We’re still breastfeeding – morning, afternoon and evening, however Ellie’s become a lot more distracted and can’t really be bothered! She loves food though. Give her anything and she’ll get her little gnashers straight into it. We went to Spain a couple of weeks ago, so she progressed onto lumpy foods pretty quickly and was seen happiest in her buggy, gnawing on a slice of watermelon!
A usual daily menu is a breakfast of porrige or weetabix, lunch is something fishy with small pasta or couscous and tea something like mash and veg. Finger foods we’ve tried are toast, breadsticks, steamed veg and cheese. Oh and of course, the emergency rice cakes! She’s still waking up at night between 4 and 5am, so I’m not sure whether to increase the milk or the food..
Another milestone for Elllie is sitting up, although rather wobbly at the mo. As much as I wanted my first child to reach these milestones, it’s making me a bit sad this time..our gorgeous babies just grow far too quick…:(
